Week 4_In Pierson Land

Hello art believers!!!

Welcome to my weekly blog (so far).  This week wasn't super productive, I achieved some of my goals but was a little behind on the others.  I went to a group figure drawing gathering. That was fun, got to warm up on my figure drawing skills which have kind of waned. Mainly because most of my work is done from photo so I am a little fusty when it comes to drawing the live figure, but I managed.  I think I'm getting better at my digital illustrations, At least in the basic sense, still light years behind. Next month I am going to take an extreme look at tutorials to push myself further.

The social landscape is quite tense and I have been trying not to hold too much stock in much of it.  If  I do, I will end up just being passed off. So I driving all that energy into my work. I hope it pays off.

On another note I went to a gallery opening, I was happy to see there were people I knew. Otherwise I was going to be that person who just stares at the art for an hour.  I don't much like to intercept people I don't know and start a conversation but its a skill I hope to improves. The exhibit opening was at the Duane Reed Gallery, I particularly enjoy Daniel Burnett's work in the back room.  Check out the link for more information.  Duane Reed Gallery

Hope everyone enjoys the work.
Cheers!,
Matt

These two paintings are getting close to the finishing pointing.  I am going to render the olives and cherries more and event add a stripe of glitter somewhere. I want them dine in the next fives days. Fingers crossed.

I am running behind on my portrait goals but I think this Abe piece I s shaping up quite well. I had planned to do four of them but we will see how I feel after this one.

As usual I have drawn seven self portraits for the week. I did a blind contour for one of them because I was running short for time and didn't want to begin playing catchup by doing two in one day.  it would defeat the purpose in my opinion.  I also started a new sketchbook, I get the feeling I will be going through many sketchbooks this year.

These are the drawings a made during the live drawing session at concrete ocean gallery. They have weekly figure drawing sessions every Thursday. Concrete Ocean Art Gallery
