Currently with this painting I'm considering the "what if's". What if I put stripes as the background and then go over the stripes with a neutral color but leaving remnants of the stripes to show through. What if I paint repeating blow pops in the background? What if I paint repeating gummy bears in the background? I'm surrounded by serious decisions that I need to decide and pursue. Otherwise I'm left with an unfinished painting.

Push through the doubt
As a painter you make work that you doubt. If you are asking questions about the direction your painting is going, then you are being a true artist. Art has thought and strong decision making involved, often times people are under the impression that it is a gift. But if its such a gift why don't people pursue art as a career more? Anyways I digress. Yes, there are gifts and aptitude toward visual arts. But what a true artist almost always wonders if their direction is correct. I doubt every mark I make, because every mark is a decision and you don't want the culmination of those decisions to be a failure or loss. It's kind of like a metaphor for life.

Ice cream painting started
I painted these stripes or marks and I'm still not sold on them. Ill paint over them or turp then off. I guess I feel awkward because I made those marks relatively early on in the paintings development. But then again any painting I start I always feel awkward doing. To be honest I often feel like I'm going into foreign ground. It's quite scary at times.
Any thoughts?

Photoshop design for Paintings
These are some designs I worked on for a painting I am currently developing. By itself I think it would have been a nice paintings, but I was struggling with another work and so I used the gummy bear to balance the piece, at least visually. The painting of pk cubban is not that good, but I believe putting the gummy bear into the frame was a good choice and will follow it through until the end. I took a poll on facebook to see which "saying" I should paint on, "eat me" won. I think the gummy bear is from a photo of a night light shaped like a gummy bear.
