Painting issues
Sometimes paintings can be this obstacle visually that you can't solve. This is one of those paintings, the drawing concept was much better than the painted versions. At times there is something lost in the translation and you struggle to get the final result. I'm going to crank on this piece until it comes to fruition even if it is a failure.

Drawing demo
Did this drawing while giving demonstrations in class. I was trying to show how to draw a milk carton in a simple way, and also talking about using white conte crayon to push the value scale. #art #artlife #artist #drawing #drawing110 #demo
Often it's good to draw what the students are drawing to understand the visual challenges they are facing. It's easy to state to them what is wrong but to understand even more would be to do what they are doing. It feels less ignorant if me to idly make suggestions when you aren't even drawing what they are drawing. Maybe I'm just going into a loop here.

Progress of my work
I set up a grid on the lower right side. I want to basically do a grid drawing of a giant gummy bear and then paint over the image. I'm unsure how much of the grid lines I want to keep on the final piece but I usually just leave them alone. It's another step to paint over the lines and it doesn't always make a more compelling painting. I like showing my process it's interesting to me to see how I came to the conclusion of a painting

Drawing demo-drawing 110
I did this drawing as a demo for using erasure and line to define forms. It's a method that involves reduction of tones and addition of tones all working together to make a finished piece. I stopped working on the piece 30 minutes in, because my students were getting a little restless and I didn't want to spend 3 hours of their time doing a drawing on newsprint. Overall a nice drawing
