double mail art

These are my latest mail art pieces. I have been slacking on mailing them because I have been doing commissions and getting boxes ready to ship some large paintings. Here is my latest endeavor.

http://truestorypictures.org/

I did 18 illustrations for them. They will be having a small group show featuring my work and others during its premier this Wednesday.

warm ups

these were really a warm up I was a little fearful to work on them.  Plus I got a phone call midway through them and found out news that cost me a good penny.. Some nice qualities to them. but not fantastic

7 minute continuous line drawing. No looking

The fun thing about these continuous line drawings is that you can't seem to go wrong on them. They always produce interesting lines and distorted visuals.

missed one

ooops forgot one more image

studies

This is the simple still life I set up to warmup and to practice my sight and lines. I was a little heavy handed today and wasn't really focused. Kind of tired today. (fragment sentence )<------- oooops
These were all interesting to see the outcome I was not really visually with it today. So when I start drawing in a few moments for some commission it might be a little hard to get things down on paper. But hopefully that will changed

postal service art

I have like 24 of these already made. after they are all sent out. Ill make them and mail them one at a time.  Just simple design and composition studies usually. Sometimes some simple experimentation. Something out of my work that has special meaning to me.

Continous line drawings

These continuous line drawings were a mixture of looking and not looking. for the most part I would glance to see if I'm in the area I wanted to be in and not just off the map drawing lines that have no relation to eachother. I am getting better at holding the forms truer to where they are without looking. Which is a good thing.

Old childhood drawings

I was cleaning the house the other day and I came across these two gems.  They were drawings I did when I was a kid. I wanted to be able to draw comic characters so this is how I started out. neato!!! I was poked fun at (jokingly) that I drew robots with a million ab muscles.  But comics really dont teach anatomy. they really teach exaggeration and at the time I wanted to learn that super exaggeration. I wouldn't  have called it that when I was a kid I would have thought those drawings to be true to the form of the body, or realistic.  When they are anything but.

Practice work

I don't have time to develop these studies. I think there is a freshness you cant get if you spend too much time on a drawing. At least as far as line quality goes.  Well theres a precipice. You can tend to lose line quality for more rendered objects and once that is fully rendered you can go back to re-develop those lines you lost.  But for now this will do.

Mail Art

I missed work today, today is usually my optional day though.  The next two days or work will be 9-10 hour days and I am fine with that.  At least I get to post earlier and start my day earlier. My real day starts at the studio.  Heres a postage art.

warm up drawings cont

This one I did using a combination of continuous line and faux naivete.  I like to not have to be so serious in my doodles.

Mail Art

Another mail art piece being sent out, I have about 30 already made. Ill post them as I send them in the mail.
